Jan Howard Finder died at 12:54am on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, in Albany Medical Center Hospital CCU, from renal failure, liver failure, and basically all systems shutting down. Medically, we don’t know if it was the cancer finally going rogue, or the new drug jan was on when the old one stopped working, or a combination, or something else entirely.
I was with him when he died, and I had a friend with me. We probably had the hospital staff wondering about us, because we sat there and told stupid jan stories and laughed a lot.
jan will be cremated. And he wanted me to sit shiva for him, which I will. I’m planning on a memorial service in a couple of months, to allow as many people who can make it to do so. His ashes will be available for those who wish to scatter his ashes in those places he visited and among the friends he enjoyed.
