Is this what Conservatives do at work and play?  Didn’t they learn anything at Watergate?

Sherlock Holmes

January 26, 2010

Once more into the Cinema!  Off to see SHERLOCK HOLMES.  I thoroughly enjoyed it.  I’m not well read as to the canon.  However, the film was grand fun.  When checking, I learned that Holmes was a very good bare-knuckled fighter, knew martial arts & rather upset between cases.  I also liked the portrayal of Watson. I just didn’t like the fat, bumbling way he is often portrayed.  Looking forward to the sequel.

Whew! I was worried there for a moment.

Old age deprives the intelligent man only of qualities useless to wisdom. -Joseph Joubert, essayist (1754-1824)

The Fed will return about $45 billion to the U.S. Treasury for 2009.  —  I’m sure the Republicans will find a way to protest this.

Vroom, Vroom! [Part 2.]

I just learned that Chevy had picked up my order on the 6th.  YEA! Now I wait until I get word that they are building the car.  —  Day 11 of waiting, but who is counting!

A film worth seeing.

I recently saw “Invictus.” While anything but a rugby fan, I was fascinated by how the game, especially the Big Game caught up the country.  I had seen some material on the back story to the film.  It gave me a better idea of just how great a statesman Mr. Mandela is.  —  While the movie is slow paced, it is by no means boring.  The scenes of the slums reminded me of “District 9.”  —  I can highly recommend this movie.

Ain’t this the truth!

When love is not madness, it is not love.  – Pedro Calderon de la Barca, poet and dramatist (1600-1681)

There is a word for it.

“Snollygoster”. The words means a ‘’shrewd, unprincipled person, especially a politician. Sounds about right to me.

However, I do know a few pollies who are shrewd AND principled.  The country needs many more of them.
