The future that will never happen.

August 22, 2010

One of the interesting motifs in SF that will never come to pass is the discovery of cures for the major [and minor] diseases humans suffer from.

Regardless of the source Pharmas will NEVER allow a cure to make it to the market.  Yes, a university or independent research laboratory may discover a cure.  If so, a Pharma will buy it up and do what they do with any “cure” they may discover.  They will weaken it so that it maintains, but doesn’t cure the disease.

The purpose of a Pharma is to make money for its stockholders, not cure anyone.  They are legally licensed to provide addictive drugs at prices illegal drug purveyors can only dream about.

Oh cool.  I just found the Albany Roller Derby site.  I must go to one of the matches this coming winter.

Sex & violence!  How much better can it get!
