FIRST FANDOM APPARENTLY DISSED BY ANTICIPATION

According to an informed source at the last minute with no warning ANTICIPATION has dropped the 1^st Fandom Awards from the Hugo Ceremonies.  The apparent reason being to give the awards more prominence by moving them to Thursday evening in a tiny room, probably off in a corner somewhere.  —  The 1^st Fandom Awards have as long as I’ve know about them have been announced during the Hugo Ceremony.  Why the change?  Maybe the folk organizing the Hugo Ceremony don’t want to “waste” 5 or so minutes of valuable Prime Time for something as outdated as 1^st Fandom Awards.  —  Of course, one rumor I heard, which is undoubtedly false, is that since there is only 1 member of 1^st Fandom from Canada, Manitoba – no less, there is no need to give any prominence to something that is almost purely American at a Canadian SF Convention.  —  I feel this is pure calumny.  After all, this is a WORLDCON.  – ANTICIPATION say it ain’t so!
