    Is there any other language in which an alarm “goes off” by turning on and a light “goes off” by turning off.
    Or in which “fat chance” and “slim chance” mean the same thing, but “wise man” and “wise guy” are opposites.
    Or in which we plug a toaster INto an OUTlet.

    Is it any wonder that, although my foreign wife and I have been married almost 10 years, she STILL has some trouble understanding English?
