The Beach of Atonement

G’day!

It is finally done.  Well, I think, it is done.  Two days of work, the hardest part being done by Chuck Rothman who prepared the covers for me.

THE BEACH OF ATONEMENT is up at Lulu’s.  I’ve ordered a copy of the paperback & hardback versions to check on how it came out.  I’ll actually see them when I get to my friend’s home in St. Louis.  I sent the books there.

I’m out of here on 1 July for to Travel The Mother Road!

It is super neat to bring back into print a novel which was last and only published in 1930.

I’ll let y’all know when it will be for sale to the general public.  Then you can rush to Lulu’s web site and buy our very own copy!

    G’day Bill,
I’m still trying to sort out the text copy. As I’m on the road, I may not be able to do it until I return in October. 😦
The prices, when I can release the book, will be $40 for the Hardback, $25 for the paperback & $15 for the download.
The book looks pretty good, tho there are some 30 pages where the last line from the preceding page is carried over. This is not acceptable to me.
I appreciate your interest. I really would like to get this done and available.
I’ll keep you and others posted. Don’t hesitate to contact me again.

Please notify me via e-mail (jacqueline.fawcett@umb.edu) when The Beach of Atonment is ready for sale and let me know how I can purchase it. I have read all other Upfield books and would really like to read this one, too. JF

Dear Jacqueline — I shall most certainly post a note here and in other places once the book is ready for sale. — As I’ve noted, I’ll be correcting the text on return home early in October. I shall be trying to get it all done and approved as soon as possible. — I want to get the b—-y book published and out there.

    G’day,

seeing that the last comment posted here is back in 2007 I am hopeful that this request will reach the intended recipient.

My father Clive, who is 70 and is battling mesothelioma was asked what he wanted before he died. One of his requests was to obtain the elusive novel by Arthur W. Upfield ‘The beach of atonement’.

He has all other novels by the said author and would dearly love the chance to read the only novel of Upfield that has eluded him so far.

If you could send me the details that I require to purchase this elusive novel I would be forever grateful.

    Yours truly,

    Rob Fisher

I got hooked on Upfield a bunch of years ago. I even put out a fanzine on him after I learned his correct birth year.

I managed to get a copy of Beach and enjoyed it. For the heck of it I scanned it into my computer. Later, I realized, I had the chance to republish the book after it being out of print for 70 years.

I can, if you contact me via email, send you “my” list of all his books and publication dates. Find out if you are missing any. 🙂
